March 2010 – Schultz & Williams (S&W) client, Community College of Philadelphia continues to successfully raise money through tough economic times. Community College of Philadelphia plays a pivotal role as a center for educational opportunity in Philadelphia. In fact, the College is the largest point of entry into post-secondary education for minorities in Pennsylvania and a top provider nationally of associate’s degrees among the African American community. Local business and political leaders have acknowledged the critical importance of education and training to the city’s future prosperity. After implementing several changes to enhance its development program and cultivation of a stronger prospect base, Community College of Philadelphia commissioned Schultz & Williams to test their ability to execute a campaign to raise $7 million in private funds for the expansion of the Northeast Regional Center and improvements at the Main Campus. It was determined through this study that Community College of Philadelphia was now not only positioned to move forward with their campaign plans, but they were encouraged to increase their goal to $10 million. A “comprehensive campaign” strategy was recommended to generate maximum giving opportunities and to help grow their long-term development program. Community College of Philadelphia has moved their campaign forward swiftly and effectively, navigating one of the toughest economic periods in our history. In the 16 months since the campaign preparations were completed, the college has raised two-thirds of its goal and is well on its way to a successful campaign. Community College of Philadelphia has demonstrated that even in the most challenging of times, an organization can succeed by planning carefully, and skillfully communicating its case for support. Community College of Philadelphia enrolls approximately 36,000 students annually at its Main Campus, three Regional Centers and at various locations throughout Philadelphia. The College offers day, evening and weekend classes, as well as classes on the Internet. Visit the College at www.ccp.edu. |
